Citrix Podio as the Next Gen PC?
So yesterday I tweeted (or is it twitted?) this article from the infamous Elias Khnaser (@ekhnaser) where he tossed out the idea of Podio and SocialCast becoming the new gen PC. At first I kinda scoffed at the idea mainly because both products have a long way to go. A Podio App for the iPad isn't out yet, and it seems SocialCast has been in the works for awhile now. However, after meditating on it for awhile, I think, long term Mr. Khnaser could be spot on. In light of the announcements Podio made at Synergry, with GoToMeeting, ShareFile, and XenApp integration, I think Citrix may be a little further ahead in this effort. I think as the Post-PC era marches forward, end users will really have to sit down and rethink about the tools they REALLY need on a day to day basis. Bloated corporate issued Windows images are on the outs. Thin, nimble, "use what you need" based services and mobility is where we are headed (duh) and Podio fits right into that mold. I have been toying around with Podio and ShareFile and I like what I see. I look forward to watching Podio grow as an offering. What do you guys think? Could you see yourself using Podio as your only means to do your job?
